We can measure equity on four dimensions; a failure to address all four dimensions results in an incomplete understanding of and approach to equity:

  • Beliefs: “Equity of beliefs” is the deep personal and/or organizational conviction that all communities can succeed at high levels;
  • Opportunity: “Equity of opportunity” means that all communities have real access to high impact opportunities;
  • Quality: “Equity of quality” means that the available opportunities are all of high quality;
  • Outcomes: “Equity of outcomes” means that communities achieve comparable outcomes on valid performance indicators.
